I used the lasso for the closed parts and pen tool all around.

Try this, zoom in at least 400% (thats what I do at least. do whatever's best for you). Go on the outline of the pixels. Take smaller clicks to reduce choppiness because it seems that every cut you do has a couple choppy parts.

Try that to see if it helps any.

yeah - we probably need to do a Cut Hair tut - between pm7, myself, and ROCKSTAR.

but, I use polygonal lasso with elliptical tool.. you gotta start rounding off heads, shoulders, and biceps a bit more - it looks a bit blocky

The only real hair tip I could offer would be to cut it like its actually cuttable hair before you edit it. Like for Tim Lincecum, I always cut and make sharp points like a ^ in his ends before I edited. A bunch of mini ^ then you can edit. You gotta make it look like hair or editing it won't work well
