I think it's a bad hire considering all the candidates that are out there.

I assume the organization believes their roster lacks divas, because Skiles doesn't put up with that shit. You do what he wants you to do or you end up in his doghouse. I've always thought he was underrated as a coach and hope he and the team does well.

Yea, you so what he wants or end up in the doghouse, and then he gets fired because he's a jackass.

There's this thing about sports--you listen to your coaches. I don't understand what's so wrong with a coach to expect that of his players. Why have coaches, then?

And here's a thing about professional sports, the athletes are uber talented, and you shouldn't be a control freak, and should give them freedom. They're grown men making millions of dollars, trying to control every aspect about them and the game is idiotic

Hypothetically why would a player making $13m a year listen to his coach making much less than that?

im with bware on this. the players should still listen but at the same time, unless youre a coach like pop(or a whole team that wants to play like a team), it takes the right group of guys for a team to buy in and it's rare. it's so much easier for a player or team to rebel.

Exactly. Players don't listen to their coach unless he's had prior success. Although in the magics case there aren't any superstar assholes to worry about, so maybe it works out.

But for most cases the player knows the team has two options: 1) move his contract ; or B) fire the coach. One is easier.

Melo is a huge example. If the team sucks after this season, who is more likely to be gone? Melo or Fisher?

The answer is obvious, and it's also unfortunate.

the thing with young rosters is its better to bring in a coach to possibly grow with them and skiles isnt that guy and the younger crowd will know that after the first half of a season.

this is a players league. not a coaches league.

That doesn't mean the league can't change. Franchises employ these players, and us employees in the real world don't get to constantly disregard our bosses like some of these dudes disregard their coaches. Scott Skiles knows more about basketball than pretty much Orlando's roster combined. Just listen to the fucking guy. They'll be a much better team if they buy into his philosophies.

My boss makes more than me, that's why I listen to him.
