The San Diego Chargers have announced that running back LaDainian Tomlinson, the NFL's fifth all-time leading rusher will re-sign with San Diego and immediately announce his retirement from the National Football League at a press conference Monday at Chargers Park.

Tomlinson said last month he was 95% retired after his contract with the New York Jets expired.

He was a first-round pick (No. 5 overall) in the 2001 NFL Draft from TCU.

Tomlinson started 141 games over nine seasons for the Chargers, rushing for 12,490 yards with 138 touchdowns and adding 530 receptions for 3,955 yards.

He was signed by the Jets as a free agent in 2010 and rushed for 1,194 yards and scored seven touchdowns with 94 receptions for 817 yards and two touchdowns.

Was one of my favorite players back in his Chargers days, was just a filthy RB. He gave the Jets two good years, just wish they would have used him more in the running game last year instead of the shitty Shonn Greene.

A great career for the dude. Will always be remembered from me by his 31 TD year in 2006.

Great career. The best back of this generation. (so far, at least)

I wish he could have gotten a ring before he called it quits.

He was a great player, I always found it hard to root for him though, he has a very unlikable personality.

IDK, I always found he was excessively cocky and very whiney.

As a Patriots fan, I'd agree with TTN. He'd always bitch and cry when facing us
