With their first meeting scheduled for today, Chargers assistant GM Ed McGuire and LaDanian Tomlinson's agent Tom Condon begin talks over restructuring the all-pro running back's current deal.

The Chargers are looking to make Tomlinson's contract a little more affordable and it will be up to the superstar back to accept less guaranteed money for 2009 and on. Several sources have said that if a deal to restructure cannot be reached, then the Chargers will release Tomlinson. -AE

Ya, as much as I like him and would hate to see him go out of SD like this, Let them release him.

If they're this stupid, they deserve to start Sproles.

Actually, I can see them making a move for Ward....

I wouldn`t be suprised if they did release him. Not saying I would prefer them to, but if they are considering it than why not?? Yes, he has been one of the best, if not, the best RB in the NFL recently, but he has had injury problems, and they franchised Sproles and other RBs that can help them. Not as much as LT can, but a little bit.

Not saying I dont like LT or anything. Trust me, I would LOVE to see him in a Lions uniform, but he has had injury problems, and they already let go of Mike Turner when he was a back-up for LT, and ending up doing amazing things for Atlanta, so we know they wont hesitate to let go of a star.

Turner wasn't a star for them. LT is a totally different story, he will be harder for them to release.

If they release LT, the Giants might be eyeing him with the possible release of Derrick Ward
