Gary Wichard, the agent of Bills quarterback J.P. Losman, told The Associated Press that his client prefers to be traded before next season. "I give him credit for handling this thing the way he has," Wichard said. "But at the end, he said, 'I'm out of here."
Losman lost his starting job to rookie Trent Edwards twice this season. Edwards was given the starting nod in week 3, however a sprained hand sidelined him in week 8. Losman lead the Bills to a 2 wins in 4 games but was sent back to the bench after Edwards healed.
Wichard said that Losman would play out the final year of his contract in Buffalo if he had to but wasn't reluctant to say hopes are high that Losman remains a Bill in 2008. "That ship has sailed, my friend," Wichard said. "Hopefully, they do something this year. And if not, we'll just walk away after next year."
Losman was drafted by the Bills with pick 22 of the 2004 NFL draft, after trading 3 picks away to Dallas for the spot. This season, Losman a 76.9 QBrating and a completion percentage of 63.4, both numbers slightly better than Edwards'.
Seeing how J.P. was drafted by Tom Donahoe and Greg Williams, I was not surprised to see Marv Levy and Dick Jauron opt to draft another QB high in this year's draft. I knew that heading into 2008 with Levy now out as G.M. and offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild gone, Losman's days in Buffalo were finished. Donahoe really screwed Buffalo on this one, as the Bills would be lucky to not be forced to cut Losman and eat a lot of his deal next season. -AE
Is it just me...or does J.P. LOSEman look a lot like Adam Sandler?
