Coach Leslie Frazier was noncommittal Friday when asked if the Vikings will bring in a veteran QB to push Christian Ponder.
"We had an idea back in April what direction we wanted to go. In May, we thought about some things," said Frazier. "Now, we're into June and we're still discussing what's the best option for us and for our quarterbacks." The "plan" Frazier is speaking of involves the Vikings starting a rookie QB. We don't see them spending big on a veteran because they want Ponder to start.

So much for 701 SAYING "Ponder will be top 5 with learning from McNabb"

I thought it was crazy that he paid for WRs to come work out for like a week. Thats a lot of money.

Where was he getting the WRs to workout with him?

They had Player Organized Practices in Florida last week, Ponder didn't pay for that.

Maybe he didn't pay but he helped organize it.

With seven Vikings players showing up for this week's impromptu team workout at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., some of those in attendance are commending rookie quarterback Christian Ponder for helping organize the event during the lockout. "It's a brave thing what he's doing," wide receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux said. "People might say, 'Oh, he's a rookie QB trying to do this,' but it's good thing because we're all trying to get better." Ponder, Minnesota's first-round draft choice in April, figured he was one of the few with new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave's playbook after picking one up the day of his introductory news conference - the only day the lockout was lifted. For most of the past three months, NFL players have been prohibited from interacting with coaches or working out at team facilities. Ponder told wide receiver Greg Camarillo early last month of his desire to share his material, and Camarillo helped spread the word through calls and text messages. Ponder settled on IMG, where he and quarterback Joe Webb have trained since last week with former NFL quarterback and St. Paul native Chris Weinke. Ponder, Webb, Camarillo, Arceneaux, quarterback Rhett Bomar, tight end Kyle Rudolph and center Brandon Fusco lifted weights Tuesday morning and conducted on-field drills in the afternoon. Camarillo believes wide receiver Bernard Berrian will likely be the only addition to the group. Berrian is expected to arrive today, and camp is expected to break Thursday. Weinke walked the players through a minor offensive installation based on Musgrave's playbook. Ponder has made copies of the playbook for each attendee and has explained a few concepts on the field to players, Camarillo and Arceneaux said. "You can tell he's very intelligent by the way he explains concepts and plays," Camarillo said. "This workout shows he's willing to do whatever it takes to be an effective player right away." Players are expected to keep things simple this week. That probably means no game film, Camarillo said. "The workout doesn't replace an OTA, but it's the closest thing you can get with limited resources," Camarillo said. "We're behind with a new quarterback and a new offense, so we have to do something."
I know there was someone who paid for everybody...

I saw something on NFL Live yesterday saying Ponder paid for their organized workouts. I have no idea where he got the money from but that's what they said.

Looks like Minny will be in the cellar next season

Still can't believe they drafted him there. They're going to waste the rest of Adrian's prime trying to develop this guy and it just ain't gonna happen
