USA TodayThe Lions' representation at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii on Jan. 30 has been cut in half.
Standout rookie DT Ndamukong Suh will undergo shoulder surgery on Jan. 10 and miss the Pro Bowl. Suh expressed his disappointment at missing out but said in a press release that he was acting in the best interest of his team.
I truly wanted to play in the Pro Bowl, which is a great honor and opportunity. It came down to making a decision to play in the Pro Bowl or to have surgery as soon as possible and begin rehab in order to help my team next year achieve our goals of getting into the playoffs and competing for a championship. The organization and I opted to have the surgery now and not wait. I will always put my team first.
Suh, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 draft, led the Lions, NFL rookies and all defensive tackles in sacks with 10. He also registered 66 tackles (49 solo), a forced fumble and one interception in his first season. Suh returned the fumble for a 17-yard TD against the Redskins in Week 8.
Suh's teammate Calvin Johnson was named to the NFC squad as a starting WR.
Kinda sad that he isnt playing cause I wanted to see him in the pro bowl but Im glad he is getting the surgery done now.
