Leonhard “disappointed” in Jets fans for getting on Sanchez

Mark Sanchez had perhaps the ugliest four touchdown performance of all time last Sunday against the Bills.

That game started poorly and finished well, like so many of Sanchez’s biggest wins. The home crowd didn’t wait, however, to let Sanchez know how they felt about him. They booed him in pregame introductions.

“I think we have a great crowd,” safety Jim Leonhard told WFAN Tuesday via the New York Daily News. “I think probably for one of the first times I was kind of disappointed. Our starting quarterback gets booed in introductions. As players, you kind of turn to each other and say, ‘You know what? I guess we’re in this one today by ourselves.

“We can’t rely on the crowd to give us that energy because it’s already started off on a bad note.’ So I will say that this past weekend was really the first time that I’ve been kind of frustrated going into a game, which is bad.”

The booing didn’t end in warmups. Sanchez got an earful when things weren’t going well early in the game. Sanchez doesn’t deny hearing it all.

“Well, of course you hear them,” Sanchez said. “You hear a lot of stuff.”

Sanchez also said the Jets don’t have a chance to make the playoffs if they continue to play as they did against the Bills.

That’s something Sanchez and the Jets fans agree on.
