LeBron James has finally put to rest the possibility of participating in the Slam Dunk Contest.

"It's over with," said James. "I'm getting too old for that. ... There were times when I wanted to do it. But I came into All-Star Weekend a few times banged up and I didn't want to risk further injury."

James won the 2003 McDonald's All-American Game dunk contest.

Disregarding everything he's said and promised us in the past, I don't blame anybody for not wanting to participate in that crapfest.

Hmm, that might be everything that's wrong with the contest.
im not even talking about props. his dunks are just real good power in-game dunks.

props ruined the contest. not even the oops from teammates, just the cars, cupcakes, lights off, shoes off bullshit.

I disagree with that, he could do some great things for the dunk contest. The guy can hang unlike any other player. If Josh Smith could make it exciting Lebron could too.

would he be exciting? sure, everyone would love him. he would do good just because people would expect him to. style in his dunks is not his forte. he doesnt scream contest dunker.

josh smith was young and when he was fairly new to the game he had style to his in-game dunks. lebron did too, his time just ran out for this contest.

I think he does, power is exactly what the contest needs. But honestly, nobody knows what he could do in a dunk contest.

I'm not a fan of props either. Seems like that's how these guys are winning nowadays over dudes like DeRozan who doesn't use props.

KD and Wale have been tweeting to try to get him into the contest haha. He'd win in a landslide. I saw a video of him jumping from the FT line and going through the legs haha. He's insane
