Lakers' Farmar out at least three games

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Lakers guard Jordan Farmar will miss at least three games because of a knee injury he sustained in Friday night's 89-87 loss to the Miami Heat.

Farmar went for a layup in the fourth quarter and landed awkwardly. He had an MRI exam Saturday in Florida that showed a tear in the meniscus of his left knee. The Lakers said Farmar will fly back to Los Angeles on Sunday and will be examined Monday by a team doctor.

Farmar won't play on the rest of the Lakers' road trip, which includes Saturday's game against Orlando, Monday in Memphis and Tuesday in New Orleans.

Hopefully, he'll be able to play against Boston.

Dec 22 Two doctors have concurred that Farmar will need surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, and could miss up to eight weeks, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Recommendation: Farmar, who was injured in Friday's loss to Miami, might wait to see if the injury gets better on its own.
