Quarterback Kyle Boller was placed on injured reserve by the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, officially ending his 2008 season. Boller injured his shoulder in Baltimore’s second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings and has not played since. Coach John Harbaugh described the injury as either a torn labrum or other damage that would render Boller unable to play this year.
With Boller done and Troy Smith still out after battling infected tonsils that required a hospital stay last week, rookie first-round pick Joe Flacco is left as the only healthy quarterback on the roster. The Ravens will sign veteran Todd Bouman to serve as Flacco’s top backup. Baltimoreravens.com says the deal will be signed on Wednesday.
