Boston Bruins center David Krejci was injured late in practice Tuesday morning at Ristuccia Arena and left the ice earlier than the rest of his teammates.
While the team would not reveal the nature or extent of the injury, Krejci appeared to be favoring his left side. Team president Cam Neely said in a radio interview Tuesday that Krejci would not travel with the team to Raleigh, N.C., so that he could be examined by doctors. Neely added that he wasn't concerned the injury was serious.
The Bruins start a two-game road trip Wednesday against the Carolina Hurricanes (7:30 p.m. ET, Versus, TSN2).
Krejci is the Bruins' No. 1 center, but has just 1 goal and no assists through the first three games of the season. He finished tied for the team lead with 62 points last season, then led all NHL players with 12 goals and 23 points during the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs to help the Bruins to the championship.
