BOSTON -- Bruins center David Krejci didn't take part in practice on Friday, a day after a pane of glass fell on him during the celebration following Chris Kelly's overtime winner in Game 1 against the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
But Krejci, speaking to reporters after practice, said he expects to play in Game 2 on Saturday.
"I feel good. I think I will play tomorrow," said Krejci, who also had stitches above his lip that he said were from a cross-check by Capitals forward Jay Beagle.
"I got a little sore neck but other than that I am good and I'll play tomorrow. It just kind of hit me from behind, but other than that, I feel good."
Bruins coach Claude Julien echoed Krejci's comments, saying he expects the team's third-leading scorer to play in Game 2.
The fifth-year center had 62 points on 23 goals and 39 assists during the regular season.
"He's fine. The glass fell on him yesterday as everybody saw and he was a little bit stiff around the neck area this morning," Julien said. "He was scheduled to skate and I talked to the trainer and together we came to terms that it was better he stayed off, so he'll feel even better tomorrow. It was not that hard of a skate, so we kept him off. He's scheduled to play tomorrow."
A pane of glass weighs about 30 pounds, according to a member of the Bruins' "bull gang," which maintains the ice at TD Garden.
"It was a fluke accident and we're fortunate it wasn't worse than what it is," Julien said. "With the weight of that glass it could've been worse and a lot more damaging."
Defenseman Adam McQuaid (eye) also wasn't on the ice for practice. McQuaid missed Game 1 with the injury, which was suffered on March 29 on a hit by the Capitals' Jason Chimera.
