The Knicks pursuing sore-backed veteran point guard Baron Davis, who cleared waivers last night, and the club also is focused on pursuing forward Travis Outlaw, the Nets’ amnesty cut, if he clears tonight at 8.

“The focus is still on Baron’s health,” Davis’ agent, Todd Ramasar, told The Post late last night after being on a flight most of the evening. “I’ll be having conversations with teams this weekend.”

An Outlaw signing would make up for the loss of forward Shawne Williams to the Nets. The Knicks could offer Outlaw, who would not have to move from his New Jersey home, their $2.5 million exception, unless Davis commands it.

I don't get why Knicks are still looking at Davis. I understood it a week ago, when we all assumed his "back pain" was just an excuse to get out of Cleveland. But he apparently has a herniated disc... and so, it just seems like a wasted effort at this point.

And Outlaw makes no sense either.

His agent came out and said he would be out 8-10 weeks so no one would claim him and he had his pick as an UFA. I heard he should be able to play in 2-3 weeks.

Outlaw makes sense when we have no backup SF.
