The City Council of New York voted by a margin of 47 to 1 to limit the lease of Madison Square Garden to 10 years.

The arena is located above Penn Station and council members would prefer to see the arena moved to improve Penn Station.

The lease could be extended in the future.

Madison Square Garden is undergoing a billion-dollar renovation.

Madison Square Garden will have to move, and I think this permit sends the message that that work needs to begin now, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said. We need to make sure Penn Station becomes what we need it to be, a really 21st century grand entrance into the greatest city in the world, not ... what Sen. [Daniel] Moynihan or others historically described as a bunch of rat tunnels that lead people in and out of the city every day.

I can't.

Plus I'm assuming some papers and permits had to be signed off for their huge ass renovation they're in the middle of. How the hell do you approve a massive renovation project like that and then tell them to leave. Although I do agree Penn Station is a shithole and needs a big improvement.

It used to be like Grand Central, why they knocked it down I'll never understand.

I asked why they would do such a thing before, but I agree here now.

Penn Station will always be a shithole from here on out...and that's only because they let it be a shit-hole.

Taking away MSG and "renovating" Penn Station won't do anything unless they fix it up all around.

It would be an awful idea to move the Rangers and Knicks to Queens though.

Yeah if they end up moving out of Manhattan that would be terrible.
