Knicks Consider Starting Bargnani At Center With Chandler Out

With Tyson Chandler out four to six weeks with a broken leg, the New York Knicks may need to start Andrea Bargnani at center.
Mike Woodson is considering a small lineup of Raymond Felton, Pablo Prigioni, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony and Bargnani.

"It’s been proven since I have been here that the small lineup works," Woodson said on ESPN New York 98.7 FM. "Again, there’s going to be nights where we got to against teams like the Pacers and Brooklyn, the big teams that I don’t know if the small lineup will fare very well against.

"With Amar’e [Stoudemire] and Kenyon [Martin] both on restricted minutes, it might bump Andrea now to the 5 and Melo goes back to the 4 spot where he play[ed] so nicely for us in the last season. And then we might go with Pablo and Raymond and Iman until we are able to get J.R. back. That’s really the only route I have right now."

I was hyped by the Bargnani trade...

How has this dude kept an NBA job?..

Maybe a product of the system they ran in Toronto? but he's not fit for us... at least not at this point, he's lost out on that floor for a good 20mins out of the 25 he plays..

I say start Kmart - Melo - RonRon - Shump - Felton..

Go defensive, and hope Melo's shoots his way back into a rhythm.. cause he's looked just terrible this season.

Amare Stoudemire - F/C - Knicks

Amare Stoudemire will see his minutes increase while Tyson Chandler is out.
Mike Woodson has been limiting Stoudemire to 11 minutes per game, but wants to Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin's minutes to 15 now that Chandler is out 4-6 weeks. The fact that Stoudemire's minutes limit has increased by a whopping four is news should indicate how low his fantasy value is right now, and owners looking for big man help would be wise to look elsewhere unless STAT's minutes magically increase to 25-plus

4 extra minutes lol

I'm just wondering why you would ask if he was a product of the system when he sucked in Toronto as well.

Always felt like he never cared on defence. Would cringe watching him. And it really sucks that he rebounds like a SF-SG. Good shot when he gets it going but otherwise he's pretty bad.

Like Rios said, he's always been good if given an open jumpshot. I never got to see much of him in Toronto and after hearing the stories never wanted to see him in Toronto, lol.

He did quite well on offense last night. From what little I saw, him and Felton were executing Pick and Pops quite well. And I didn't see much of the game but he blocked 5 shots somehow. still hate him because he's useless rebounding & on defense. Although the best thing to take away from his performance last night was a confidence boost because if Woodson wants to expect Bargs to absorb any rebounding or defensive coaching, guy's gonna need confidence first.

He's been inconsistent during his career with it, but Bargnani has had years where he's been a decent shot blocker.
