The Kings signed forward Justin Williams to a US$14.6-million, four-year contract extension on Monday.
He is in the final year of a deal paying him $3.5 million per season and was due to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Williams has been healthy this season after battling injuries in recent years and sits second in team scoring with 49 points (20-29) in 62 games.
In 614 career NHL games with the Flyers, Hurricanes and Kings, he has 155 goals and 398 points.
The 29-year-old from Cobourg Ont., won a Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006.
