The Sacramento Kings offered the Boston Celtics a package of Isaiah Thomas, Ben McLemore and draft picks for Rajon Rondo, according to a source.

The deal did not go through due to Rondo's lack of interest in signing a long-term contract with the Kings.

The Celtics reportedly want multiple first round picks in a deal for Rondo.

As someone stated in the other thread I don't know if they'll get a better offer than that.

Eh, it would be nice to know but it's pointless, Rondo's not gonna sign there anyway.

Yeah but I think it broke down because the Kings didn't want to take Rondo unless he committed long term. Could be reading it wrong though.

if the celtics backed out, idiots. if the kings did, shocked. they usually don't make good moves.

Kings offered the deal to Ainge

Ainge asked Rajon if he wanted to play in Sacto

Rondo said no

Dumbly asking Sacramento if they still want to do the deal, the kings declined

It must suck for Rondo tho; we've been throwing trade offers and rumors at him since 09

no you read it right, I'm just saying that might be the best offer they'll get from a team that's both an ideal landing spot for Rondo, and is willing to move multiple firsts plus a recent top prospect.

Yeah no doubt it's a solid deal for Boston.

Your post makes it sound like the Kings wouldn't ask.

We all know what's meant tho.

Well if they didn't then Ainge is a really terrible negotiater.

This isn't the first time the kings have offered for Rondo; it's just the first time it's gone public. They offered earlier in the year as well

They didn't ask period. It wasn't until Danny told them that he would accept the deal, but Rajon probably wouldn't re-sign that the kings pulled out

hes really not that good of a GM

He gets a lot of credit cuz of 08, but he had great relations with McHale obviously and have up good assets (multiple picks and a young Al Jeff stud), and have up a Top 5 pick for an aging player who didn't want to be apart of the rebuild in Seattle/OKC

He gets way too much credit. People will say "he stole Sullinger at 21", which is true. But he would have been an idiot not to take him there with 2 picks; he was by far the BPA. And then he took Fab Melo who is almost out of the league already. JR Giddens? JaJuan Johnson?

Aside for stealing KG and Ray, and buying Rondo's draft pick from a cheap owner who just wanted money, he has made 3 good 1st round selections: Sully, Al Jeff, Bradley. This coming draft will be his 10th

That's sad.
