LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Lakers rookie forward Julius Randle has left his NBA debut on a stretcher after injuring his right leg in the fourth quarter Tuesday night.
TNT reported Randle has a broken leg. The Lakers later said in a statement that the initial diagnosis by team doctors at the arena is a fractured tibia.
The seventh overall pick out of Kentucky had his right leg immobilized as he left the court, casting a pall over the Lakers' season opener against the Houston Rockets.
The 19-year-old Randle was injured when he collided with two Houston players under the Lakers' basket midway through the final period. He was in obvious pain as the Lakers' medical staff tended to him, eventually immobilizing his leg while Kobe Bryant gripped his hand in support.#

Does he count as a rookie next year like Noel is this year, or because he played 14 minutes he doesn't?

Highly doubt it. He's in the record books.

This was actually a pretty gruesome injury to watch. I mean, you don't see anything compound breaking out of the skin or anything, but what his leg does when it breaks is strange and really plays with your stomach. Ugh.

I feel terrible for him.  I wonder if he has to be out for the year or if they're just being careful since this team is only going to win maybe 25 games.
