NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Pelicans say starting point guard Jrue Holiday is sidelined indefinitely with a right ankle injury.

The Pelicans say it wasn't clear when or how a stress fracture to Jrue Holiday's right ankle occurred.
The team says the injury is a stress fracture in his tibia.

It is not clear when or how the injury occurred.

Holiday played 29 minutes in Wednesday night's 102-96 loss at home to Washington, making three of his 11 shots for eight points to go with three assists, three rebounds and three steals.

In 34 games this season, the 6-foot-4 Holiday is averaging 14.3 points, 7.9 assists and 4.2 rebounds.

His injury comes while New Orleans struggles to overcome the absence of leading scorer Ryan Anderson, who has been out with a herniated disk since last weekend.

New Orleans hosts Dallas on Friday night.
Pels cant catch a break. Who hasnt been hurt on this team?

On another note, the sixers have a shot at two top 10 picks in a deep draft

But their future isnt that special though

Jrue Holiday, Ryan Anderson, and now Tyreke Evans. Surely AD will go down at some point.

I wonder if this franchises bad luck will leave when Charlotte retakes the Hornets name?

Pelicans are only three games out of having the third worst record in the league, and with Ryan Anderson likely done for the season and Jrue gone for the next month and a half, I have no doubt that we will get there.

Orlando, philly, milwaukee, utah, boston, lakers are worse and should all have worse records than new orleans

Although i guess its like a gigantic tie so who knows

Right now we're only three games back from being tied for the 3rd worst record in the league, two games back from having the 5th worst, and one game back from having the 6th worst. We have something like 37 games remaining, and 28 of those teams having winning records. That obviously means we only play 9 more games against teams with losing records (more than half the league has a losing record, btw). We are only 2-15 against teams with winning records. Take a look at the team that currently holds the fifth worst record, they have nine games remaining this month and get to play the Lakers, Magic, Wizards, Nets, Knicks, and 76ers. The only game I could see the Pels winning the rest of this month is on Jan 26th vs the Magic, maybe a Jan 21st matchup vs the Kings, but even they've picked up their play.

The Jazz, who were considered one of the two worst teams in the league a few weeks ago, are only two games out. Two teams below us are getting two key players back, Charlotte getting MKG back tonight and Boston will get Rondo back before the weekend. The Lakers I'm not sure about, but D'Antoni said he hopes to have both Nash and Kobe back in two weeks, if that happens I think we catch them as well. All these bottom teams are getting players back, but for us there seems to be no end in sight. By this time next week I'd bet we will be 14th in the West.

Ryan Anderson is out for the year more than likely, and Jrue is out for at least a month and a half, and knowing this team probably longer. Tyreke is out as well. They also weren't playing guys like Brian Roberts, Greg Stiemsma, Alexis Ajinca, Jason Smith, Darius Miller, Lou Amundson, and Anthony Morrow as much last season.

I mean this isn't my opinion, they've been one of the worst teams in the league since Ryno, Jrue, and Reke went down, and those guys aren't walking through that door anytime soon. They can't score and they can't defend, and they're rapidly approaching a bottom five record.

They're already fourth worst Mexi, only one game back from being the 2nd worst record. What makes you think they'll only drop one more spot? Like I said, this time next week they'll have the 2nd worst record in the West. You have to look at the big picture, in the West and the league overall.

You have to think about the players that are filling in for the Pelicans because of our injuries to Jrue, Reke, and Ryno.

Utah is better, and the Lakers probably will be better once Nash, Kobe, and Gasol return.
