J.R. Smith has agreed to sign a two-year, $2.8 million contract with the Knicks.

The second season is a player option.

"I have decided to re-sign with the Knicks. I just felt that, despite my other options, New York is the best situation for me," Smith said in a statement released to ESPNNewYork.com. "Coach (Mike) Woodson showed a lot of faith and trust in me last season, as did (Knicks owner) Mr. (James) Dolan and the organization.

"My teammates are great to play with and New York fans are the best. I can't wait to get started."

Smith is expected to be New York's starting shooting guard with Landry Fields all but certain to end up with the Raptors.
i guess money isnt an issue for him lol

Read this was likely yesterday.

And it might not be that he didn't care about the money, it may just be that's what was out there. I read yesterday a article with a few agents talking about how "the well has run dry" in free agency and anyone that's left is only getting offered 1 or 2 year deals for small salaries.

:spideypalm:

the only positive thing about him was he actually passed the ball to Novak a lot.

JR could have some value on some teams, but I don't exactly see what really benefits the Knicks with this when they already have some guys who like to shoot the ball.

i think they're thinking 100% offense, 2% defense, lol. it's as if they think the more weapons the better.

Shumpert (when he comes back) and Kidd (somewhat) can help them out on D.

Damn, I wonder if that was the only money he could get on the market.

it's good that they resigned him, they needed some scoring of the bench.
