Hawks forward Josh Smith was invited to participate in next weekend's slam dunk contest, but decided not to take part for a variety of reasons.

"First and foremost I'm just not healthy enough for something like that," Smith said. "You have to be at your best to compete in something like that. All-Star Weekend is actually a chance to rest your body for a few days and get totally away from everything before recharging and getting ready for the second half push."

Smith has missed twelve games this season with an ankle sprain.
He would have beasted.

I don't think this is true, the dunk contest is for people in their first 3 years, and no others

Is that an actual rule? I never knew. I've noticed it though.
