The Raptors have reached a buyout agreement with Lietuvos for No. 5 pick Jonas Valanciunas, who will come to the NBA in 2012-13.
Valanciunas wasn't likely to play this season anyway, and this is a solid coup for GM Bryan Colangelo -- many teams were worried about Valanciunas' buyout, yet it took Toronto less than 24 hours.

I'm so happy the Raptors got this deal done so quick. Let him develop for another year longer, and hopefully when he comes to the NBA he can chip in and help contribute to this squad.

Even if he wouldn't play much, it's ideal to develop him yourself, instead of having him stay in Europe another year but at least it won't be a Rubio situation.

yea, its good you got it done quick but him coming over now and working with the staff and better talent would have helped more.

I don't get why they always put certain Euro guys who have tough time speaking English like him on the spot. >_<

I always feel like them coming over immediately and working with NBA talent helps more. Gets them more into speed with the NBA, which is what's needed

During the FIBA Under-19 tournament, Jonas Valanciunas earned MVP honors while averaging 23.0 points, 13.9 rebounds and 3.2 blocks.
Valanciunas made 60% of his FGs and 81% of his FT%. His upside is tremendous and if he puts on some weight by 2012-13 he'll be contributing immediately as a rookie for the Raptors.

The Fiba U-19 is lower then the level of competition he has played in professionally but yea, you want him to dominate that tourny like he did.
