ESPN.com - Titans running back Chris Johnson seems to be finding out about the
downside of Twitter during his contract holdout.

Johnson tweeted Wednesday that "fake Titan fans" should shut up. Fans are calling him greedy and saying his contract demands are too high.

Football players should shut up. They get paid a lot of money for carrying a football.

so 2 high contracts make his demands okay?

If two guys get overpaid that suddenly warrants a 3rd athlete to get even more? This is exactly what's wrong with sports in general. It happens in baseball because there's no salary cap, so guys can demand higher than other players. However, the NFL has a salary cap, and teams can't keep topping other major contracts. They have to have flexibility moving forward for the next few years, and giving Johnson $16M a year, or even more than that, could really hurt them. Clearly Chris Johnson is not a team player, and just wants his pay day.

PS. Speaking of tweets, Darnell Dockett tweeted that he likes Arizona's gun laws because he can basically have a grenade launcher sitting next to him in his car, as long as it's registered. God I love twitter....

If the Titans feel that his demands are too high then dont sign him and let him go. Or just trade him, you're worth as much as you can bargain for. I dont blame them trying to get the most amount of money possible, I would do the same thing given those circumstances. Now if the Titans were a Super Bowl contender and the team wanted me to restructure my contract to sign other key pieces I would do it. But the Titans are nowhere near close to that.

Chris Johnson, Titans Agree To $53.5M Deal

Jim Wyatt/Tennessean - Chris Johnson and the Titans have agreed to a four-year, $53.5 million deal. Approximately $30 million of the deal will be guaranteed.

Johnson will be under contract through 2016.

chris johnson probably wouldn't do it.

My point has nothing to do with being a contender. And you can't just say "if he wants too much let him go". He's your best player, you have to do your best to keep him but somewhere a line has to be drawn. Just because 2 players make way too much doesn't mean he should.

In a league where the best of the best get paid hella high contracts, its no wonder why this dude is looking for dollar signs.

People need to get off his dick. The market set the standard, not him.

understandable, I just think it's odd to say "well these two good athletes got a lot of money so he should get more than that", when you have to take into consideration the financial restrictions the team may have when planning ahead for 2-3 years.

Yea, but thats how the market is set all the time. Type A player gets X amount of money, Type B player is a better player so he should logically get more money than Type A.
