Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh declared Joe Flacco "the best quarterback in football" for the second time in less than a week.

Harbaugh made the latest grand declaration after Flacco guided the Ravens to a 30-17 wild-card victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night. In the Ravens' first-ever playoff victory over their rival, Flacco completed 18 of 29 passes for 259 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, finishing with a 114.0 passer rating.
"Joe Flacco, what can you say," Harbaugh said. "He's the best quarterback in football. We'll take him any day of the week, twice on Sunday or Saturday if that be the case."

Well, this proclamation sure backfired on him.

Two bad second half picks didn't help. The defense needed to step up, first and foremost. I agree with you there.

You can't expect much more out of Joe in that game. He went toe to toe with one of the greatest of all time, he may have even outplayed Tom.

You just refuse to see anything positive in his game.

FYI I don't think he's elite by any means but give the man some damn credit he balled out in the playoffs like he did in 2013.

He played well. I just think the interceptions were pretty bad. He was due for that first one, but that second was just awful. Granted, I don't recall what down it was. If it wasn't fourth down, that was a terrible throw.

explain how they were bad picks

Belichick highlighted the McCourty pick in his film session with Zolak, and they showed the background to the play. The Ravens ran the same play earlier in the game, and it resulted in a very easy 26 yard gain to Torrey Smith. They flip the play and run it later on in the 3rd, and Flacco puts it very well. Torrey Smith was not aggressive at all going for the ball, as he comfortably caught the ball on the same play earlier in the game. McCourty, a top 3 cover safety in the NFL, made an exceptional read on the play, and came from far to make that pick.

That's not on Flacco, imo. It's on Torrey Smith being one of the laziest WRs in the league (hint, he gave up on the ball on Flacco's other TD as well), and it's on the Patriots' free safeties for making great reads

Flacco played great, and comparative to the other QBs in the league like Dalton, he deserves the money he gets, because he performs in the moments he needs to. They almost beat us, on multiple occasions, and the reason they lost was not Flacco's fault. In fact, he deserves the least blame for the loss, imo.
