Yahoo! Sports - The New York Daily News is reporting that the Jets and cornerback Darrelle Revis are $40 million apart in their negotiations on a new contract.

The Jets have had a 10-year, $120 million offer out to Revis for months as one of two proposals, according to the report.

Revis and his camp are seeking a deal in the $160-million range with about $30 million in guaranteed money to top the contract of Oakland's Nnamdi Asomugha, per the report.

Asomugha will make an average of $16.5 million over the next two seasons
Revis is a <Censored> tbh.

Revis acts like an average of 12 million a year for 10 years is chump change.

The dude really is starting to piss me off. Not only is he <Censored>ing the team over, but like Rip said, he makes it seem like we're giving him awful deals. Not only do I personally think that you need more than ONE amazing year to deserve the highest contract in the league (for your position), we don't even have enough money to go around to pay Revis the money he's expecting. And the fact that even our owner thinks that Revis won't play this year is just sad.

This is what happens when Al Davis screws around and gives a player too much money. In this case it was Nnamdi, last year it was Hayward-Bay and it screwed the 49ers over.

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The New York Jets and the agents for Darrelle Revis reached a truce, issuing a joint statement Thursday in which they vowed to work toward a resolution to the contract standoff.

"Both parties have had conversations to clear the air and will continue to negotiate with the hopes of reaching an agreement," the statement read. "From this point forward, all discussions regarding these negotiations will remain confidential."

Minutes after the statement was released to reporters, coach Rex Ryan was asked to comment. The usually talkative Ryan looked at the Jets' public relations director, turned back toward reporters and said: "Can't talk about it."
