Plaxico Burress didn’t have much to say about Stevie Johnson’s choice to mock the self-inflicted gunshot wound that sent Burress to prison.

Burress said he didn’t have a problem with Johnson pretending to shoot himself in the leg after a second quarter touchdown pass in Sunday’s 28-24 Jets win. Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News reports that Burress said “I’ve seen worse, I’ve heard worse” in the locker room after the game. His teammates had a different reaction.

Brandon Moore: That’s classy. A classy act on his part, I guess.

Santonio Holmes: I think it was a selfish, classless act on his behalf.

Dustin Keller: He’s an idiot for that one… It’s not funny, it’s not comical at all, he should be embarrassed.

The Jets got the last laugh when a wide-open Johnson dropped what might have been a touchdown pass on the final Bills possession of the game. His celebration also wound up costing the Bills 15 yards on the ensuing kickoff, yards that came in handy when Dave Rayner kicked the ball right into Jets blocker Emmanuel Cook. The Jets wound up with a touchdown just before the half as a result of the flag and kick.

That penalty was on the Bills’ minds after the game. Coach Chan Gailey said that Johnson needs to be smarter and use better judgment at critical moments. Johnson berated himself for the “stupid” penalty he said wound up costing the Bills the game.

“It was a bad decision and it hurt our team….I need to be more mature than that.”

I thought it was funny. I've always found Plax Shooting himself in the leg humorous.

yeah, dropped that pass later on to cost them the game. karma's a bitch, ain't it Stevie?

but quite frankly I think the media is blowing this whole thing up way more than it needs to. I kinda chuckled when he did it.

Stevie Johnson tells Plaxico he’s sorry

Plaxico Burress took the high road once again regarding Stevie Johnson’s touchdown celebration on Monday.

“I don’t want everybody just saying he’s a bad guy because he made a mistake. I’ve made a few in my life,” Buress told Michael Kay on 1050 ESPN Radio

Burress told Kay that Johnson texted an apology and left a voice message for him. So that should close the book on the story until we hear Johnson’s fine from the league.

Now we can move on to more important matters like: How come no one is talking about Dave Rayner’s ground ball kickoff costing the Bills points?
