The agent for Jeff Saturday said the Indianapolis Colts center will likely miss the first six weeks of the season and possibly more if he has surgery on ligament damage in his right knee, The Indianapolis Star reported.
Saturday, who has started 59 straight Colts games since 2004, damaged the medial collateral ligament in his right knee in the Colts' preseason loss to the Buffalo Bills. His agent, Ralph Cindrich, said the Pro Bowl center will miss a good chunk of the season and even longer if he chooses to have the injury surgically repaired, according to the report.
"I don't think he'll be able to get back on the field for at least six or seven weeks,'' Cindrich said, according to the Star. "He's down for a while.''
If Saturday has surgery, he might miss 11 weeks, Cindrich said, according to the newspaper. "But from all reports … he could be back before the end of the season.''
"Right now he's just biding time,'' Cindrich said, according to the report. "Jeff wants [the knee] to settle down and we'll do a little more research on it, a little more talking to make sure we're on solid ground [with any decision].''
Saturday could not be reached for comment, and the Colts did not offer an update on his condition, the Star reported.
