Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays signed shortstop Yunel Escobar to a two-year contract extension on Sunday.

The deal, which is worth $10 million for the two years, also includes club options for 2014 and 2015 at $5 million each.

Over 66 games this year, the 28-year-old is batting .281 with eight home runs and 26 RBI.

Acquired by Toronto from Atlanta last season as part of the Alex Gonzalez trade, Escobar is a career .288 hitter with 41 home runs and 225 RBI over 572 games in five seasons.

That's a good ass deal. Yunel might be a little inconsistent with the bat but he's showed some pop this season. He's a wizard at SS as well.

Good move by the Jays here. No doubt.
