The NFL won't wait to change Chad Johnson's name this time around.

Crack NFL researcher Matthew Pomeroy confirmed with the league and the Miami Dolphins that they are both changing the name of the receiver formerly known as Ochocinco back to Chad Johnson immediately.

The then-Cincinnati Bengals receiver could have purchased the jerseys to get the name changed, but he opted not to.Back in 2008, the NFL and NFL Network waited a season before recognizing his name change to Ochocinco. The reason: The league had $900,000 worth of "Chad Johnson" merchandise to unload.

The name "Johnson" was on his back during the 2008 season and it will be there once again after he officially changed his name again for the sake of his wife.

We couldn't find any available jerseys on the Dolphins' website, but that's a marketing opportunity we're sure won't sit dormant for long. The Dolphins better sell them fast because there's a chance they become obsolete like Ochocinco's name before Week 1.
