Once again, I was discussing the NBA with a buddy when he stated that he didn't believe Fredette could ever play point for the Kings, and I strongly disagree. Personally, I think he'll be best fitted playing the point rather than running at the two. He's a good ball-handler, and just because he shot the ball so much in college and didn't really run point doesn't mean he can't play it at all. I mean seriously, the kid made some nice passes in college, and did run his team well, he just didn't have any other major scorers so he had to take the scoring load.

All that being said, do you guys believe that Jimmer will be able to run the point in the NBA? Or will he basically just be a scoring two-guard?

Thoughts?

Jimmer was brought in to space out the floor for Tyreke. He's not going to be running the point

not that it's a good plan, i'd much rather see Tyreke play off the ball and focus on defense, the dude could be a premier perimeter defender

He won't have to be a full time point for the Kings, since Tyreke will have the ball in his hands a lot. Jimmer will be able to play off the ball and shoot when he's open.

he wont be starting because Marcus Thornton played great for them after the trade

as a back up PG? i dont think so
he was brought in to sell tix and hit 3s

backup PGs these days are all fast fast fast
i dont think he could keep up with them. i've been wary of him forever

Thornton did play great for them, which is why I see Tyreke starting at point and Thornton at the 2.

Jimmer I'm guessing will come in off the bench and play either next to Tyreke or next to Thornton...I do believe he will play the point, and I also think he will do well. He was a pretty good passer at BYU that people often over look, as well as his ball handling. He was doubled pretty much every game in college.

So I think he will play point, and probably some 2 as well. If he excels at 1 more than the other, they might make him more of one than the other.

The goal is for Jimmer to start, Thornton is the Kings best option at 6th man because he can actually score

He could eventually start but I doubt it. Especially for the first little while. Unless an injury happens.
