"I thought Dez made great strides this year on the football field,'' Irvin said. "When Dez really locks it all in, understands it, Dez will be the best receiver in the NFL.''

Agreed. I think he can be top 3 with Calvin, Green and then Dez.

There are a LOT of really talented WRs in the NFL right now. That's really a bad statement to make.

I think he'll be a great WR, but Top 5 is a real tough group to crack.

Aside from the 2 I mentioned, no one has the potential he has.

Nicks & Wallace certainly have the ability to be elite WRs in the NFL.

Bias statement. Irvin will always back up his boys.

Wallace is great deep, but above average everywhere else, and is too small to be dominant. Nicks is really good, but doesn't have elite potential. He'll never be a Randy Moss, whereas Calvin, AJ, and Dez all can be.

So, Nicks doesn't have elite potential based on what? Is it your opinion or do you actually have some sort of factual evidence to back it up?

Randy Moss potential is a huge stretch. Randy Moss in his prime is the 2nd best receiver in NFL history... Calvin barely even has that kind of potential.

Future top 5, sure. No higher than 4 is what I see though.

Calvin
Green
Nicks
Jones
Bryant

Yea. I mean, I'm not gonna doubt his potential. I don't know how to rate someone's "potential". But there's a lot of phenomenal WRs in the NFL, some better at one thing than the other, and others are more well-rounded. More guys will come up through the draft in the following years that will be great as well.

I mean, at some point in his career, Dez will be considered a top 5 Receiver. I don't doubt that. But I also think guys like Nicks & Julio & Wallace will be right up there as well.

None of those three can take over a game like Calvin, Fitz, Green or Dez can/have the potential to.

Nicks has already proven that he can take over a game at the NFL level, though... Dez has yet to do that.

I honestly wouldn't say Nicks is any better than Cruz. Nicks can, but not at that type of level. And no, Dez hasn't, but he has an enormous amount of potential to. Again, not saying he'll fulfill it.
