The Colts are 0-3, but their season is essentially over. Peyton Manning will not be coming back to save the team.

Owner Jim Irsay announced at a breakfast meeting with Super Bowl donors Monday that Manning is expected to miss the entire season, according to WISH-TV in Indianapolis.

Irsay may be speaking out of turn, but you can do that when you own the team. Even if the Colts don’t make a move to injured reserve official just yet, this is a sign the Colts have no expectations Manning will return.

We suspect the Colts will have to follow this up with an official statement. It makes no sense for Irsay to say this publicly otherwise.

The article reports that Manning wouldn’t be able to practice until December. If the Colts place Manning on injured reserve, he couldn’t officially practice at all because of league rules. UPDATE: It was Irsay that said Manning could practice in December. That would seemingly indicate the team won’t make any move official. (Or it indicates Irsay doesn’t know the I.R. rules.)

Assuming Manning is down for the count in 2011, the question becomes who else besides Manning will be on the Colts quarterback depth chart in 2012.

Indianapolis will surely have a high draft pick in a good year for college quarterbacks. They may just be high enough to draft Andrew Luck first overall.
Well time to throw in the towel for Colts fans unless you see a miracle somehow lol

Figured as much, and i'm sure that was their plan all along. They just didn't want to admit it.

Them getting Luck might not even be a good thing.

Nothing is guaranteed that Luck will even be a good QB.

I think it will help.
Learning from Peyton, and already being such a great prospect, insane combination.

Rodgers-Favre.

If learning from Manning helps so much.. how come alot of players behind Manning always = bums.. Sorgi, Painter, ETC...

Cause they just suck lol.
I mean, you could take a talented older RB, and have a young dude learn under him. But if the younger dude just isn't a good running back, he isn't going to be good lol.

And yeah, saying Luck will thrive is just a guess. But I think he will be a great QB, regardless of learning under Peyton or not.

Im just saying.. Manning isn't really a great teacher.. go look at all the QBs that have came from under Favre.

Mark Brunell
Matt Hasselbeck
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Brooks

Favre is a great teacher.. Manning works too hard on film, etc to sit and try to teach Luck how to be a great QB.. The best way for a QB to learn is to get out there and play and learn from your mistakes.. If Luck goes to Indy, I don't see him panning out.

I just see no reason if doesn't turn out like Rodgers behind Favre.
A team drafting a 1st round QB is a bit different than a 5th rounder.

Favre is a better teacher...

Packers weren't playoff bound Rodgers 1st year either.. they went like 5-11. Best way to learn is to play.

Just because he is a better teacher doesn't mean Peyton won't try to teach one of the better QB prospects in a while.
I highly doubt Peyton just sits there and doesn't teach the kid.

Thats even if they keep Peyton.

They could save alot of money in Feb and just cut him.

Right, so Luck might get the chance to play right off the bat.
But I don't think they'll cut ties with Peyton just like that.

Still doesn't mean he'd end up great.

Their Oline is horrible.. & Its clear that Garcon and Collie were products of Manning. They have no got damn RB's and the Defense is god awful.

Colts are done, stick a fork in them.

Sounds like the situation Peyton was thrown in as a rookie.
Not comparing the two. But I mean, typically high picked rookie QBs aren't in the best situations lol.

Colts had a way better team in 1998 than 2011.

Marshall Faulk
Marvin Harrison
Tarik Glenn
