DENVER -- Rookie Peyton Hillis has a torn right hamstring and is done for the season, becoming the fifth Denver Broncos tailback to go on injured reserve.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Hillis will need eight weeks to recover and might need surgery. Hillis was hurt Sunday after an acrobatic catch against the Kansas City Chiefs when he was bent over with his right leg planted and his knee locked on the tackle.

Hillis joined tailbacks Andre Hall, Michael Pittman, Anthony Alridge and Ryan Torain on IR. Plus, Selvin Young, the starter when the season began, has carried just once in the last two months because of a torn groin.

The Broncos will promote Cory Boyd from the practice squad to compete with P.J. Pope to serve as Tatum Bell's backup. Bell was selling cell phones at a local mall when he was signed last month.
Throw anybody back there, they'll do good no matter what.

Broncos are just having unrealistic luck this year at RB. They better have at least 8 on their roster each year because you just never know when the 8th RB will get his chance. Practice Squad will definately get some golden oppurtunities.

Silly thing is everyone we put back there will get at least 4.5 ypc. Peyton was getting 5.

Could be a good thing for the individual players and takes off some of the worry for the offense when a RB goes down the following year. That is pretty crazy though regardless. That`s a new meaning to "depth at runningback."

its because they have an Offensive Line that can just create holes.

Give credit to the OL on that team, as well as the OC for keeping up with the change in players.
That sucks, I picked up Peyton on my fantasy team and he was doing great. Time to hit the FA again....

You obviously have to credit the Offensive Line if you can put anybody back there and they can be successful.
