Since being drafted 17th overall in 2008, 7-2 center Roy Hibbert has averaged 10.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Indiana Pacers. This season, though, his numbers are up to 13.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game over the first dozen contests of the season.

NBA.com reports that it looks like the 25-year-old is planning to possibly take his talents to another team as a restricted free agent this summer rather than trying to get the Pacers to sign him to a long-term extension.

After all, teams are always seemingly desperate for a talented big man.

"I'm not saying 100 percent we wouldn't do [an extension], but I'd say it's likely," his agent, David Falk said, according to the site. "He likes Indiana, it's a great place, it's worked out well. But it's my opinion that generally, these things are hard to do. If I was an owner I wouldn't do one unless I got a discount. … I think more than anything else, the reason guys do extensions, in my opinion, is when you have a client who is insecure that he's going to get paid. … Centers don't grow on trees. If the guy has the confidence to wait, he's probably better off waiting."

I can't really see him leaving, he loves it there.

But you never know.

With the deadline for teams to negotiate contract extensions approaching in less than a week, Roy Hibbert said he thinks he won't get a new deal by next Wednesday.

"My personal gut feeling is that we'll do something in the summer, because the max guys are the ones that get extensions right away," Hibbert said. "I'm just going to follow my agent's lead."

He prefers to remain with the Pacers.

"I have every intention of staying," Hibbert said. "Indiana is my home."

He should stay, they have a nice young nucleus there in Indy and he's comfortable there. Not too much pressure playing for the Pacers as well which is good too.
