Ok pick up. He's getting old, not sure if he can still score like he could back in the day. McCants probably would of been a better piece to add.ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks have signed six-year NBA veteran Damien Wilkins, the nephew of Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins.
The 30-year-old Damien Wilkins, the son of former NBA player Gerald Wilkins, adds depth as the Hawks adjust to losing star Joe Johnson for four to six weeks following elbow surgery.
Wilkins, a guard/forward, played last season with Minnesota and was cut by Memphis in the preseason before signing with Atlanta Friday.
He played with Seattle/Oklahoma City from 2004 to 2009 and has a career average of 7.2 points per game.
Wilkins played two seasons at North Carolina State before transferring to Georgia, where Dominique Wilkins was a star. Dominique Wilkins is a vice president with the Hawks who also works as a color analyst on TV broadcasts for Hawks games.
