Surprised they actually picked the Giants to win the last one.

Umm that article doesnt say that they have picked the past 8 years correctly.

It also doesnt say that they are picking the Pats. What it is saying is that a lot of people are jumping on the Giants bandwagon in terms of betting and basically that the Giants have had more upsets than the Pats which correlates to a higher "alpha."

The Pats have a lower alpha because they havent really been underdogs at all this year. And they arent even in the Super Bowl yet. The Pats are 3 point favorites.

First paragraph. It says both.

The New England Patriots will win the Super Bowl by at least three points even though the New York Giants have the appeal of "a cocktail party stock," according to a quantitative money management firm that's correctly picked the team covering the point spread for eight consecutive years.

That doesn't mean that they picked the winner correctly...

The point spread could have been -10 and the team that they picked to cover that still lost but lost by a FG instead of a FG and a TD.

I'm pretty sure that's how those things work, I'm not a gambler.

I think you mean +10

-10 would mean you're giving 10 points, so you'd have to win by over 10 to cover.
