Mike Conley was awarded the Grizzlies' starting point guard job before the season, but he hasn't done much to keep it. Conley, the fourth pick in the 2007 draft, is averaging only 5.3 points (on 31.6 percent shooting) and 3.8 assists in 24.4 minutes. After the Grizzlies' 132-103 home loss to the Knicks on Wednesday, coach Marc Iavaroni offered a blunt assessment of Conley to the Memphis Commercial Appeal:

There is growing concern with Conley, who was 1-for-5 shooting with two assists, two turnovers and made negligible impact through three quarters.

"He's got to play harder," Iavaroni said. "When he plays hard he's a good player. When he doesn't, he's below average."

Conley acknowledged that he's not playing with confidence.

Never seen the hype in this kid, dont really see the potential either.

He's putting up less then mediocre numbers and I think its a no-brainer Lowry or Critt should be starting/getting more minutes.
