Giants Get Pence

The Giants bolstered their lineup today, acquiring right fielder Hunter Pence from the Phillies and countering the Dodgers' aggressive moves, tweets SI's Jon Heyman.

Pence, 29, is hitting .271/.336/.447 in 440 plate appearances for the Phillies this year.  He's under team control for 2013, though his salary could exceed $14MM.  Pence joined the Phillies one year ago in a trade with the Astros, but amidst a disappointing season GM Ruben Amaro Jr. is cleaning house.

Don't know who they gave up to get him but is definitely a great pickup for them. Especially since the Dodgers just got Victorino.

Looks like the Phillies are trying to retool that offense. I could see Cliff Lee getting traded as well.

Pence had a down year playing at CBP, now he is moving to San Fran which is more of a pitchers park. Pence should be at his peak right now and thats not happening.
