EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan has been fired.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin dismissed the first-year coordinator late Monday afternoon, just hours after saying that Sheridan's future with the team would be evaluated in the wake of an 8-8 season that ended with losses in eight of the final 11 games.

The Giants' defense struggled this season, giving up 427 points, ranking it third from the bottom in the NFL. Only the Detroit Lions and St. Louis Rams gave up more points.

Sheridan was elevated from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator after Steve Spagnuolo became the Rams' coach. Spagnuolo was the architect of the defense that led the Giants to a Super Bowl victory over the previously unbeaten New England Patriots in February 2008
Great move!!! Now we are a Super Bowl contender once again!!! lol.

Next up: Killdrive

We need to get healthy and find some freaking LB's and another DB or two.

We mainly need another safety as far as DB's go. Can't Cover Brown really loved being beat by DeSean Jackson and many other WR's on a regular basis this season. Ross, Webster, Johnson and Phillips (who hopefully rebounds from his potentially career ending injury) are all good, but we need someone better than C.C. just in case.

I wish we had a mobile LBer like what Kawika Mitchell was when we won the Super Bowl. Michael Boley was pretty good this year but he was often injured and we need more depth at that LBing position.

Time to celebrate!!

haha...

3 things on my mind:

1. I have heard already that Ralph Vacchiano says don't be surprised if Dick Jauron becomes a top contender for the DC position, which I'm actually ok with.
2. An addition at safety is an absolute must, but they should not trade or cut Umenyiora. He's still shown he can be a game-changer, he just is struggling to get that burst off the line back.
3. They should pursue another LB, maybe try and look at a guy like Urlacher. But I do like Goff. He had a few good games this season and despite needing to learn A LOT more in the years to come, he did a solid job taking over in a big spot.
