Damn it. I was hoping we cut him but I guess this will do

He can still be reliable. He had an awful season. With a paycut, we could probably make a few moves if we wanted to.

Maybe, but his best years are behind him. I'd rather see us move forward with some younger players like Sean Smith from MIA

curious how much this saves us. Would have prefered to just cut him, but we don't necessarily have the CB depth to do that.

Good move by the Giants. Now time to get manti in the draft lol jk. I think we need another cb.

I think it should depend on how the draft plays out. We have a lot of holes to fill, primarily OL. Gotta re-sign Beatty, hopefully re-sign Bennett and Cruz. I think that would basically rule out signing and veterans that have been cut -- except maybe Spikes, he would probably be cheap enough to add on. Other than that, if the draft plays out a certain way, I wouldn't be against drafting Te'o. Tommy C won't let that locker room go against the guy. He's one of the few coaches that can do that in this situation.

Beatty was re-signed about two weeks ago.

Eli needs to step up and restructure his contract or something.

Eli's re-structured his contract more than enough. Might as well bite the bullet now, because the cap hit is already insane.

when was the last time he restructured?

I think I'm going insane. I can't remember anything Giants related. I'm forgetting signings, restructured deals -- this is not good.

This time last year.

EDIT: It was just last year. The cap hits are still enough that it would be silly to have him do it again.

O right. I remember him restructuring a few years ago right around the same time Jacobs restructured.

It likely went like this:

Either take the pay cut, or get cut from the team entirely. He's still making more than he would've made if he got cut.

Yea this has nothing to do with being a Team player. He knows he performed so poorly this past season that if he was cut, he would not get even half of what he made AFTER the pay cut on a new contract elsewhere -- so it was either take a pay cut or good luck on the Market.
