San Francisco Chronicle - 49ers running back Frank Gore is "frustrated" that he's yet to receive a contract extension, according to a report.

Talks between San Francisco and Gore's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have reportedly gotten "volatile" and a trade request could be coming soon.

However, Gore's training-camp holdout lasted just four days and there have been no obvious signs since that there is serious acrimony between the two-time Pro Bowl running back and the team.

If they actually had a QB it wouldn't be that way. Vernon Davis, Mike Crabtree, and Braylon Edwards are three great targets for whoever can step up and throw the ball.

I know. They got potential to be a nice team, but when you got Alex Smith throwing the ball, ain't nothing going to happen. And Kaepernick is going to need some grooming before he is ready to start as well, though I was never high on him either.

Wow, the 49ers really need to start taking this situation seriously and get a deal done with him. Gore, when healthy, is one of the top running backs in the league, so to even gamble with him leaving isn't smart. Time to step up and get something done San Francisco!

Looks like Harbaugh definitely wants Luck next year and I can't blame him....49ers need Gore, he's a huge piece.

Harbaugh: Gore Feud 'Overblown'

San Francisco Chronicle - 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has dismissed reports that there is a growing feud between the organization and running back Frank Gore.

"It all is and sounds like water-cooler talk to me right now, and I'm just not interested in it, in the water-cooler talk," Harbaugh said.

"I don't think there's any substance to the things that you're asking me and the examples that you're citing. We'll deal with Frank man-to-man and won't listen to the water-cooler talk, so to speak. Just deal with Frank and his agent, and like I've said all along, hopefully soon there's a deal that's fair for Frank and the 49ers."

Gore, 28 and in the final year of a contract that will pay him $4.9 million, is seeking a contract extension.

Pro Football Talk, citing an unnamed source, reported Sunday that Gore was "frustrated" that he's yet to receive a contract extension.

Sure they need him now, but I don't think they have a great shot for the playoffs this year anyways with St.Louis and Arizona in the division. He's 28, and his career will most likely slow down in the next year or two. I wouldn't give him a big contract, knowing they'd only get 2-3 more big years out of him.
