Lavelle Felton, was shot in the head at a gas station in his hometown of Milwaukee.
Felton, 29, played for Paderborn last season in Germany's top league, Bundesliga. Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital spokeswoman Kim Wick said Felton was in critical condition Thursday.
Felton played his collegiate basketball at Louisiana Tech.
German League guard Lavelle Felton has died from a gunshot wound suffered while sitting in his car at a Milwaukee gas station.
The incident took place early Wednesday morning.
Felton, a Milwaukee native, played for Paderborn last season in Germany's top league, Bundesliga.
"Lavelle was a people person," Ken McLean, the guard's stepfather said Friday. "When you see Lavelle, Lavelle made your day better because he always had something nice to say, always had a smile on his face and he was a person who was living his dream."
