The Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirms national reports that the Falcons are engaging in "serious and ongoing" discussions to move into the top-seven picks.
As Rotoworld's Evan Silva points out, the Falcons entire draft is worth only 1,226 points via the traditional trade chart compared to 1,600 for the Browns' No. 6 pick. The AJC suggests the deal would involve this year's No. 27 selection plus next year's first-rounder. The Falcons remain "guardedly optimistic" that the deal will go through.

There's been major rumors that the Falcons are trying to move up to grab Julio Jones. What would you guys think of having Roddy White and Jones across from each other? You give Matt Ryan that weapon and it makes the Falcons so much more dangerous.

Thoughts?

Still choke in the playoffs though lol. But for real though. That would be a deadly 1-2 combo.

Update

Calling the scenario "likely," Jay Glazer predicted late Thursday afternoon that the Falcons would trade up to No. 6 to draft WR Julio Jones.
Glazer confirmed previous reports by SI's Peter King and NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora that the Falcons are trying "very strongly" to move up, and now he's going a step further. Glazer believes the trade has a "very strong" chance of happening as long as Jones or A.J. Green is there when the Browns go on the clock. Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff has been aggressively pursuing an offensive playmaker as the missing piece on his contending roster.

According to some website that values picks with points, the Falcons have to trade basically their entire draft this year and next years #1 to equal the value of the 6th pick.

Update #2

SI.com's Peter King is "starting to feel" that the Falcons will be successful in their attempts to trade into the top-10 to draft a playmaker.
King believes the draft "could get dramatic quickly," which matches speculation we're hearing elsewhere. NFL Network's Mike Mayock has heard of at least four trades that are set to happen. "I'll tell you one thing," said Mayock. "They will blow up everybody's mock draft."
