We have one last fine to report from Sunday’s rough-and-tumble Lions-Bears game at Soldier Field.
Lions rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley has been fined $15,000 for roughing the passer because he unnecessarily drove quarterback Jay Cutler into the ground, the league office has confirmed to PFT.
Fairley’s fine is the last of six different fines totaling $62,500 that the NFL handed down for various offenses from the Lions-Bears game. We passed along the rest of them here.
Three players who weren’t fined are Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, Bears linebacker Lance Briggs and Bears defensive end Julius Peppers. Suh knocked Cutler’s helmet off on a hit, but the NFL deemed it clean. And Briggs and Peppers both laid hard shots on Lions receiver Calvin Johnson, but the NFL deemed both of those clean, too — even though Briggs was given a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness.
