If you asked Buffalo all pre-season which quarterback should start, you would get mixed reviews. If you asked Toronto the same question...Trent Edwards gets the nod.
Shaking off a sluggish pre-season game last week, a poised Edwards lead the Bills onto the turf of the Rogers' Centre and delivered for the 48,300+ Canadians in attendance. Looking like a true "Field General", Edwards was 9-for-11 for 104 yards and two touchdowns, near perfect in the two-series he appeared in. Of Edwards' two touchdown passes, a 33-yard strike to #1 target, Lee Evans, and a 13-yard pass to tight end, Robert Royal.
Bills' rookie defensive back, Leodis McKelvin, also showcased himself while in the Toronto spotlight. Following the Steelers' cutting the Bills' lead 17-14, McKelvin took the ensuing kick-off to the house, for a 95-yard touchdown.
Adopting the City as their "Home away from Home", the small-market Bills completed the first of a five-year, eight game series in which Toronto will be called "home" for Buffalo. In a move to generate more revenue and generate more of a fan-base, Buffalo signed a contract to play annual regular season games in the largest city in Canada.
The Bills will become the first NFL team to play annual regular season games outside the United States when they host the Miami Dolphins at the Rogers' Centre, on December 7th. -AE
