"The Eagles solved their final off-season puzzle Thursday night when they signed Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy to a five-year contract extension that runs through 2017 and makes the 23-year-old the third-highest-paid tailback in the NFL.
According to a league source, the deal is worth up to $45 million with $20.765 million guaranteed.
McCoy had one year left on his original four-year rookie contract, signed after the Eagles drafted him in the second round in 2009. The five-year extension begins with the 2013 season.
McCoy, 23, led the NFL with 20 touchdowns in a breakout 2011 season. He had 1,309 rushing yards and 1,624 yards from scrimmage. Over the past two years, McCoy is fourth in the NFL with 3,296 yards from scrimmage, sixth with 2,389 rushing yards and second with 29 touchdowns, one fewer than Arian Foster."
