The Miami Dolphins are unsure if they will continue starting Ryan Tannehill at quarterback.

Well decide our game plan before we leave to play Oakland, Philbin replied, via Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post.

Tannehill was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by Jeff Ireland, who is no longer with the Dolphins.

Matt Moore is Miami's backup quarterback.

I really hope this is just some gimmick by Philbin to inspire Tannehill.  In his first two seasons he's shown signs of progression and has looked very good at times.  To judge him on a small sample size of three games in a 16 game season and end his path on that would be a travesty, I think.  I hope this is a bluff.  Then again, the GM who drafted him is no longer the GM, so maybe this is politics.

Yea I don't think he's that bad, and still has a lot of room to improve. He had a solid performance last year despite the paper-mache offensive line.

Perhaps the Dolphins should admit that they have 5 new offensive lineman, no real weapons outside of Mike Wallace, who disappears for periods of time, and no real running backs.

I'm not a Tannehil fan--he's been marginal at best, most of the time, but to pull the rug out from underneath him when what's around him isn't up to par would be cowardly of this coaching staff.

Glad to see that post because I feel like even if you hate Tannehill, this is a head scratcher.

I agree with pretty much with what everyone said here.
After last season I thought he was well on his way to having a pretty solid career. Would be stupid to stop his progression because I do think he has the ability to be an above average starter in the league.

Joe Philbin is still noncommittal on a QB and I have to say this is something I just don't understand at all.  Can't make sense of what the end game is.  This is a coach who is probably fired with anything less than 9-7, so it's not just a shameless tank for Mariota, unless Philbin has some employment promise.
