Los Angeles Dodgers minor leaguers Alex Guerrero and Miguel Olivo were involved in a dugout altercation during their game Tuesday with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.
Being that this is Minor League Baseball, all the details don't travel as quickly as they would if two teammates fought during an MLB game. Here was the initial report from the scene:

Salt Lake-Albuquerque game delayed briefly in the 8th inning. Fight between Isotope teammates seems to have broken out in the dugout.

PCL fight between teammates: Might have involved Albuquerque SS Alex Guerrero and C Miguel Olivo. Neither now playing ..
Cue your favorite "that escalated quickly" meme, because here's what we learned later. It is a doozy.
Woah there. This is Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield territory, with the added intrigue that the ear-mangling scuffle happened between two teammates. Buuuuut wait, there's more.

Part of Alex Guerrero's ear was "displaced by a bite" during altercation with Miguel Olivo, according to Guerrero's agent, Scott Boras.

Alex Guerrero is having plastic surgery on his ear right now, Scott Boras said.

Guerrero's recovery timetable is uncertain, Boras said; not clear yet how many stitches the surgery will require.

Police have gathered evidence about the incident and collected witness statements, according to Boras.
Word about the encounter made its way to the Dodgers, who opened a series Tuesday in New York against the Mets. Team officials were asked about the incident, but sounded like they were still in fact-gathering mode.

Ned Colletti is still looking in to the fight between Guerrero and Olivo. Working on getting facts

Colletti knows about AAA fight. Absolutely does not want to talk about it. "we are looking into it."
According to the Sting 'Em Bees blog, which covers the opposing Salt Lake City Bees, the incident began when the Isotopes infielders weren't communicating with Olivo. Sting 'Em Bees has a number of photos that somewhat show the scuffle and another that shows
Guerrero covering his ear with a towel.
Before the dugout altercation, Guerrero and Olivo almost got into it on the field.
If one of these guys has to go, it'll be Olivo, a 35-year-old who is a 13-year veteran. He's bounced around the league playing for seven teams in that time. He was backstop insurance while catcher A.J. Ellis was injured, and demoted to the minors when Ellis returned.
Guerrero, meanwhile, is a Cuban import the Dodgers signed during the winter for four years and $28 million. The Dodgers are trying to season him for the big leagues and figure out where he best fits in their infield.
