The 2010 second-round pick out of West Virginia has failed to consistently crack the rotation in his first couple of years in the league, and the presence of even more star power doesn't help. He filled in for Matt Barnes to start 12 games last season, but he failed to make much of an impact, averaging four points and just over two rebounds.

Other than an impressive start to the postseason against the Denver Nuggets, Ebanks continued to post very pedestrian numbers while helping marginally on the defensive end.

Despite this news, the firing of Mike Brown will likely occupy the headlines (h/t USA Today), which makes the end of the week even more turbulent for the Lakers.

Entering a six-game home stand, the team will be without yet another player to add to the loss of free-agent point guard Steve Nash. The Lakers desperately need to find some semblance of chemistry to quickly turn their 2012-13 campaign around.

Expectations are set for an NBA title, but Ebanks' off-court mistake has only added to the instability of this team.

Perhaps a coaching change will help Ebanks carve out a better role, but in light of this recent situation, he likely won't be able to make his mark before facing some sort of disciplinary action within the organization or courtesy of the league.
